Gideon Langart was on the original development team of Port Owen and Langebaan Country Club since 1983 and literally put both places on the map by sending motivations to government to have them listed as South African place names. He started and still runs Gideon Estates with offices in Velddrif, Port Owen, Langebaan and Paternoster. He has sailed, fished, cycled, motorbiked, photographed, publicised, cooked and drunk on the West Coast extensively.
