Discover the West Coast and make it your home

Having a mild Mediterranean climate the West Coast provides a wonderful getaway close to Cape Town. Velddrif has the least wind of any West Coast town since the South-easter comes on-shore at Langebaan and comes over the hills of Vredenburg where it gets warmed up and loses some of it gust.

Velddrif (in which Port Owen, Admiral Island, Laaiplek and Dwarskersbos lay) has one tenth of Cape Town’s annual rainfall. This makes it the perfect weekend getaway as in winter you can be braaing in Velddrif an hour and a half after leaving Cape Town’s rain.

Over and above wonderful fishing and boating the West Coast has South Africa’s finest sailing waters; St. Helena Bay, the wonderful Berg River and Langebaan Lagoon.

Velddrif, Laaiplek and Port Owen borders on each other and forms a unit. Velddrif is situated on the north eastern shore of the Berg River and about two kilometers from where the river mouths into the ocean in St Helena Bay. It borders for about eight kilometers on the Berg River, a mere 150 km from Cape Town on the convenient R27 West Coast road.
